Samsung Group begins open hiring to secure new talents

Samsung Group will begin open recruitment on Monday, in a move to secure new talents while global tech companies are downsizing workforce.

According to Samsung Group on Sunday, companies will initiate the recruitment process for new employees on Monday.

A total of 19 companies are hiring in the first-half recruitment, with around 10,000 personnel expected to be hired during the process.

The 19 companies include electronics affiliates such as Samsung Electronics Co., Samsung Display Co. and Samsung Electro-Mechanics Co. and biotechnology and financial arms such as Samsung Biologics, Samsung Bioepis Co., Samsung Life Insurance Co.

Applicants can submit their applications through the website from Monday to March 18. The selection process will include the Global Samsung Aptitude Test (GSAT) in April, interviews in May, and health examinations. Some positions, such as software development or design, will undergo competency tests and portfolio reviews alongside.

Among major Korean conglomerates, Samsung is the only one maintaining a regular open recruitment system for new employees, in line with the late group chairman Lee Kun-hee‘s talent management philosophy.

Between 2018 and 2020, the group hired over 40,000 employees, and in 2022, it announced a plan to hire 80,000 employees over five years to create and expand domestic jobs.

Samsung’s move is a stark contrast to the recent downsizing of staff at global big tech companies. “Samsung is contributing to domestic employment stability through large-scale job creation,” said an industry insider.

Samsung Electronics Co. Chairman Jay Y. Lee has consistently emphasized talent management and job creation.
