Son Myung-soon, the widow of former president Kim Young-sam, died on Thursday at the age of 96.
Son died at Seoul National University Hospital in Jongno District, central Seoul, from a chronic disease, according to local reports.
Born in 1929, Son attended Ewha Womans University before marrying Kim in 1951. Kim was elected the seventh president of Korea on Dec. 18, 1992. He died on Nov. 22, 2015.
Son is survived by her three daughters and two sons, including Kim Hyun-cheol, who currently serves as executive director of the Kim Young-sam Democratic Center.
