Former Kotra VP named as commissioner of Incheon Free Economic Zone

Yun Won-sok, a former executive vice president of the Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency (Kotra), has been named as the new commissioner of the Incheon Free Economic Zone (IFEZ).
The new role entails the developing the IFEZ and surrounding areas including Songdo, Cheongna and Yeongjong Island as well as attracting foreign investments.
His tenure lasts for three years.
Yun graduated with a bachelor’s degree from Sungkyunkwan University and an MBA from Seoul National University before attaining a Ph.D. in business administration at Sungkyunkwan University.
He joined Kotra in 1986 and has served in various international posts such as deputy director of its Miami office, chief trade commissioner of Kotra Vancouver and Kotra Los Angeles and head of Kotra Busan.
During his time with the trade agency, Yun is said to have contributed to facilitating trade and exports that led to various mergers and acquisitions as well as foreign direct investments between domestic and foreign companies.
Yun was also active as the president of global business for local tech company Hancom Group and as an adjunct professor of business administration at Sookmyung Women’s University.
“Over the next three years, I will aim to attract foreign and domestic investment in pharma and healthcare, tourism and leisure, and high-tech industries to create a ‘world-class city," Yun said.
