American actor Timothée Chalamet has been mingling with fans on the streets of Seoul during his visit to Korea for promotional events for his upcoming film “Dune: Part Two.”
Photos taken with the actor in Seoul have been shared on various social media platforms, including X, formerly known as Twitter, on Tuesday. Chalamet is known to have particular regard for his fans.
One photo shared on X saw Chalamet waiting for coffee at a cafe in Jongno District, central Seoul, while another photo on Instagram showed the Hollywood actor posing with the owner of a restaurant.
Chalamet arrived in Korea on Monday along with his co-star Austin Butler at Incheon International Airport. The official promotional events for “Dune: Part Two” begin on Wednesday, starting with the press conference expected to be held Wednesday afternoon.
Chalamet will film promotional content with EBS’s popular character Pengsoo, and is considering whether to appear in an episode of the hit talk show “You Quiz on the Block” (2018-). On Thursday, he will participate in the red carpet event alongside co-stars Butler, Zendaya, Stellan Skarsgard and director Denis Villeneuve.
Chalamet’s visit to Korea this time around marks the first time he has visited the country since 2019, when he was invited to the Busan International Film Festival for “The King” (2019).
Chalamet is one of Hollywood’s most prolific young actors and has a significant fan base in Korea. His most well-known works include “Call Me By Your Name” (2018) and “Little Women” (2020). Chalamet’s most recent film “Wonka” garnered 2.5 million viewers in Korean cinemas as of Wednesday.
“Dune: Part Two,” which opens in Korean theaters on Feb. 28, already reached 126,000 tickets sold in presales. The film is a direct sequel to “Dune” (2021), and follows Paul Atreides, played by Chalamet, who goes on a journey to seek revenge for his family against the evil Harkonnens.
