Genesis BBQ opens first delivery, takeout outlet in Vietnam

South Korea chicken franchise Genesis BBQ Group announced on Friday that it opened its first delivery and takeout specialty outlet, BBQ Gardenia, in the Vinhomes Gardenia apartment complex in Hanoi, Vietnam.

This is the first time the company has introduced a delivery and takeout concept in Southeast Asia, with the decision to open the store based on Vietnam’s growing trend of food delivery and takeout culture thanks to the high number of motorcycle owners in the region.

According to market tracker Momentum Works, the food delivery order volume handled by Vietnamese platforms was estimated to have increased by 30 percent to $1.4 billion in 2023. The vicinity of the new BBQ outlet is known to have a significant customer base, including schools, hospitals, and office complexes, which contributed to the strategic location choice.

BBQ Gardenia is a compact store occupying an area of about 22 square meters. BBQ has been actively expanding its in 2023. The company is offering a variety of Korean dishes alongside its focus on chicken.

BBQ also plans to open more delivery and takeout specialty stores after considering the characteristics of each business district. Since the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic, BBQ has operated delivery and takeout specialty stores in Korea in June 2020, BBQ also introduced its first global delivery and takeout specialty store in New Jersey, United States, in May 2023.
