The National Library for Children and Young Adults has released two additional storytelling videos based on picture books in the run-up to the Lunar New Year holiday.
A total of 341 different stories are available on the library's official website in six languages: Korean, English, Chinese, Vietnamese, Thai and Mongolian. Some videos also include subtitles in Russian, Khmer and Tagalog.
The multilingual storytelling video service, launched in 2009, features Korean original fairy tales, traditional folktales, and foreign children’s stories.
The recently released video, “Yeoni’s Family Celebrates Seollal!'” written by Woo Ji-young and illustrated by Yoon Jeong-ju, depicts vibrant scenes of Korea's Lunar New Year celebrations. Yeoni’s family is busy making "seolbim," or New Year’s clothes, cooking delicious dishes and cleaning their house.
“A Letter That Came to the Photo Studio in the Woods,” written and illustrated by Lee Si-won, introduces a special family story through the tale of an owl photographer and a bear assistant.
The full videos are available on the website of the National Library for Children and Young Adults. Two more videos are expected to be released later this year, according to a library official.
