The protests carried out by thousands of Haitians to demand the departure of the government of Prime Minister Ariel Henry are gaining in violence, and they have left one dead and several injured in various cities where looting, acts of vandalism and fires have been recorded. The tension in the mobilizations was expected, as the date on which Henry was supposed to leave power has passed under an agreement signed in December 2022 with opposition parties, representatives of civil society and the approval of the international community.
