SK telecom nabs top rating in climate change assessment

South Korea’s top mobile carrier SK telecom Co. announced on Wednesday that it received a ‘Leadership A’ grade for the third consecutive year in the climate change response evaluation conducted by the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP), an international non-profit organization.

The Leadership A grade for climate change is awarded to the top 347 companies, or 1.5 percent, out of the approximately 23,200 companies evaluated, and 10 companies on 2024’s list were from Korea, including SK telecom.

SK telecom said that it received high marks from a credible international organization for its efforts in carbon neutrality practices and information disclosures amid the rapid transition to a carbon-neutral society.

“We will continue our efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions as well as disclose the implementation of our carbon neutrality goals accurately and transparently, and become a company that is trusted by various stakeholders and contributes to overcoming the climate crisis,” Um Jong-hwan, head of ESG Innovation at SK telecom, said.
