Han Chang-joon, the former chief financial officer of the failed Terraform Labs, arrives at the Incheon International Airport Tuesday afternoon after being extradited from Montenegro, where he was arrested last year for trying to leave the country with the failed crypto mogul Do Kwon with a forged passport.
“The state of Montenegro acted today upon a request from South Korea and the Justice Ministry and handed over Han Chang-joon to the relevant authorities of his native country,” Montenegro’s government wrote in a post on X.
“We express our gratitude to the Montenegro authorities for cooperating with the extradition of Han Chang-joon,” said the Ministry of Justice, while vowing to try its best to extradite Kwon to Korea.
The extradition of Kwon, who remains in custody and is sought by both Korea and the United States, is scheduled to be decided before Feb. 15.
Kwon is the mastermind behind the failed TerraUSD stablecoin and Luna, which wiped out at least $40 billion of investors’ wealth.
