South Korean defense company LIG Nex1 Co. announced on Monday that it will participate in the World Defense Show (WDS) 2024, which is taking place in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, for five days from February 4th, 2024 (local time).

The WDS, which began in 2022, is a leading, comprehensive defense industry exhibition for the Middle East, with participation from around 900 companies from 45 countries in 2024.

The Korean defense company will showcase various air defense weapons systems capable of multi-layered air defense, including the Cheongung II mid-range surface-to-air interceptor system designed to counter ballistic missiles and aircraft attacks, a long-range artillery interceptor system to protect vital facilities and personnel from long-range artillery threats, the Shingung portable surface-to-air guided missile system, and long-range surface-to-air guided weapons.

The company also introduced advanced weapons systems optimized for local conditions, including the Weapon Locating Radar II, the Korean GPS-guided bomb KGGB, the 2.75-inch guided rocket Poniard, and the mid-range infantry guided missile Hyeongung.

LIG Nex1 will also conduct a joint promotion with Hyundai Rotem Co. to introduce both an unmanned and manned composite solution that combines mission-specific guided weapons and anti-drone systems on an unmanned ground vehicle (UGV) platform.

“We have continuously strived to explore new markets and expand defense exports based on our world-class product competitiveness,” LIG Nex1 President Shin Ick-hyun said. “We hope that this exhibition will be an opportunity for LIG Nex1 to expand K-defense’s horizons.”
