Amid the gloomy global economic outlook for 2024, nearly half of South Korea’s middle-market enterprises are poised to maintain or expand their investments in the country, according to a recent survey conducted by the Federation of Middle Market Enterprises of Korea (FOMEK).

The survey, whose results were announced on Thursday, showed that 48.5 percent of the surveyed companies expressed their intent to proceed with domestic investments throughout the current year. Impressively, a staggering 91.1 percent of the middle-market enterprises with their domestic investment plans are committed to maintaining or increasing their current investment levels.

The survey, conducted from December 19th, 2023, to January 7th, 2024, targeted 369 middle market enterprises in Korea.

Among the middle market enterprises disclosing their domestic investment plans, 43.6 percent expressed an intention to expand their investments, a significant increase of 28.1 percentage points compared to the previous year.
