Pusan National University will host the highest number of undergraduate Global Korea Scholarship (GKS) students this year, the school said Friday.
Among the 466 students selected for the GKS undergraduate scholarship this year, 31 will be hosted by Pusan National University.
Pusan National University is followed by Soonchunhyang University, which will host 22 students, and Kyungbok University, with 18.
The students will start a one-year Korean language program in the upcoming spring semester, moving on to their degree after completing the language course.
Of the 31 that will study at Pusan National University, 15 applied via the university track and 11 are from the university-industry cooperation track. Both application tracks allow students to apply for the scholarship by choosing one university they wish to study at.
Another five are from the embassy track, which allows students to choose three universities before getting accepted to one of them.
GKS is a government-funded scholarship program that provides full tuition and a monthly stipend to international students applying for undergraduate and graduate programs.
Applications for undergraduate and graduate students are open separately, and the graduate scholarship will open in February.
