Shinhan Financial Group Chairman Jin Ok-dong highlighted AI and data science as the group’s next growth engines, urging employees and executives to accelerate the digital transformation within financial services.
“AI and data are the core capabilities that will drive the group’s future,” said Jin during a meeting with top management at Shinhan subsidiaries and working-level employees involved in AI and data science projects at Shinhan Bank and Shinhan Card.
The meeting was held on Wednesday at the Shinhan Financial Group’s headquarters in Jung District, central Seoul, the financial firm said in a release Thursday.
“I want every one of you to go beyond the mere idea of technology itself and start thinking of yourselves as ‘business designers,’ to drive palpable innovation for our consumers and employees,” the chairman said.
The focus of the latest meeting was on discussing business strategies and trends in the global financial service sector, as well as key issues regarding digital transformation. During the meeting, attendees addressed problems and possible solutions in projects involving AI and data science based on the survey conducted among employees of Shinhan companies.
Shinhan Financial Group plans to hold such digital-centered meetings among executives and employees once a quarter.
