Korean celebrities, including NCT’s Doyoung, continue to spread warmth in 2024 with a round of donations to kick off the new month.

NCT’s Doyoung donated 30 million won ($22,500) to donation platform The Direct Donation to support young teenage girls from underprivileged households on Thursday, as part of his birthday celebration the same day, SM Entertainment said.

The donation will be used to provide female hygiene products, school supplies and daily necessities.

“The love and support that I received from Czennie is one of my biggest joys and what motivates me,” Doyoung said in a press release Thursday. “I made the donation because I believe that sharing the love I received from Czennie will double the happiness.”

Czennie is the nickname of NCT’s official fan club, NCTzen.

Girl group Billlie and its fans donated 3 million won to social welfare organization The Snail of Love, which specializes in supporting those with hearing impairments, the group’s agency Mystic Story said Thursday.

The donation amount was collected from the merchandise profit of the group’s digital single “January 0th (a hope song),” which was released on Jan. 2.

The group also showcased a sign language challenge along with the song’s release.

“We planned a sign language challenge in hopes that Billlie’s new song could reach more people,” Mystic Story said to The Snail of Love organization. “Like the song’s subtitle, a hope song, we wish that everyone’s dreams come true and their days are full of hope.”

Trot singer Lim Young-woong donated 2 million won to the Korea Pediatric Cancer Foundation to help children with cancer, the organization said Thursday.

The donation was made under the singer’s name, in celebration of Lim winning the February vote on star donation community platform My Good Star.

Lim's donation will fund the foundation's emergency support program to cover expenses such as transportation and medicine fees, enabling patients to continue receiving stable treatment, according to the foundation.

Virtual boy band Plave’s fan club PLLI donated 500,000 won under the boy band’s name to the nongovernmental organization Hope Joyagdol to help underprivileged children, the organization said Thursday.

The donation was made under the name “Plave with PLLI,” celebrating the band winning the rookie stardom vote on K-pop fan community platform Podoal.

“We are grateful that Plave won the rookie stardom vote on Podoal. We want to share this feeling by giving back to underprivileged households,” PLLI said in a press release. “We hope that our hearts reach the children in need and provide a better tomorrow.”
