BTS’s Jungkook, (G)I-DLE’s Soyeon and Seventeen's Vernon have been named as regular members of the Korea Music Copyright Association (Komca), Korea's largest music copyright organization said Thursday.

Komca on Thursday announced the list of 30 new regular members of the association — 27 from the mainstream music fields and 3 from non-mainstream music fields, which includes traditional Korean music, children's songs and religion.

Songwriters who achieve high revenues with the songs they write are chosen as regular members. Komca chose 25 new regular members each year but will start choosing 30 starting this year, according to the association.

Regular members get a voting right at the association's general meeting but are revoked membership if they do not attend the meeting more than four times in a row.

Jungkook’s works in writing and composing his songs, such as “Seven” (2023), “Still With You” (2020), and “Dreamers” (2022), were recognized by the association, raising him to a regular member status.

Jungkook is the fourth BTS member to become Komca’s regular member, following bandmates Suga, RM and J-Hope.

Soyeon of girl group (G)I-DLE was acknowledged for her participation in writing, composing and producing the group’s hit songs, including “Tomboy” (2022), “Queencard” (2023) and “Nxde” (2022).

Along with Jungkook and Soyeon, boy band Seventeen’s Vernon; producer Code Kunst; and composer 250, who made girl group NewJeans’ hit songs “Attention” (2022), “Hype Boy” (2022) and “Ditto” (2022), were also raised to a regular member status.

The list also includes artists who have been re-chosen as regular members, such as singers Rain and Lee Sang-min, according to the organization’s policy.

"Komca's annual regular member listing features writers and composers contributing to K-pop’s rise, including prominent singer-songwriters from idol bands,” Komca said in a press release.

Komca is Korea's largest music copyright management body, established to support music creators by licensing their musical works and protecting the rights of music copyright holders under the Copyright Act.
