The CEO candidate recommendation committee of POSCO Holdings convened its eighth meeting on Wednesday, with all members present, to finalize and announce the six finalists for the company’s top leadership role.

The announcement, which came late in the evening, indicated a significant deliberation process in narrowing down the pool of candidates.

The finalists include Kwon Young-soo (former vice chairman of LG Energy Solution), Kim Dong-sub (CEO of Korea National Oil Corporation), Kim Ji-yong (Director of POSCO Holdings New Experience of Technology Hub), Woo Yoo-cheol (former vice chairman of Hyundai Steel), Chang In-hwa (former president of POSCO), and Chon Jung-son (former president of POSCO Holdings).

The committee is scheduled to conduct in-depth interviews with the candidates over two days, from Feb. 7-8.

On the afternoon of Feb. 8, the committee, in conjunction with the interim board of directors, will publicly announce the final candidate and present the CEO candidate appointment proposal to the shareholders’ meeting due on Mar. 21.

The committee emphasized that the selection criteria for the six candidates focused on “professionalism and leadership capabilities for the company’s future leaps and changes.”

It also said the global business environment surrounding POSCO Group is unpredictable and stressed the importance of selecting finalists with outstanding professionalism and leadership capabilities.

“The advent of the era of environmentally friendly future materials presents new business opportunities while requiring new strategies, investments, and technological readiness to overcome significant challenges and competition,” the committee added.
