The University of Seoul will be offering internship opportunities to its international students studying urban studies.

International students enrolled in the university's master's program for infrastructure planning & development will be offered internship opportunities during the winter session, according to the university on Thursday.

Internships are offered by public organizations such as Korea Expressway Corporation and Korea National Railway, along with companies such as Topec Engineering and Hanlim Architecture Group.

The internship opportunity will be given to 18 international students, who are from 15 countries such as Malaysia, Uzbekistan and Indonesia.

"We hope the internship will allow international students and public officials to learn about Korea's urban development and get hands-on working experience at Korean companies, while also allowing us to expand networks with countries we work closely with," said Lee Shin, the dean of the university's international school of urban science.

The infrastructure planning & development program is a master's program offered at the University of Seoul's International School of Urban Science. The program was created in partnership with the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, aiming to offer education to public sector employees abroad.

Foreigners who worked in the public sector, and are from countries designated as official development assistance recipients by the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development, are eligible to apply.

Full scholarships are offered, but students have to return to their home country after graduation as the program aims to teach foreigners that can contribute to the growth of their countries.
