The Seoul Central District Court on Wednesday delivered two contrasting rulings for the People Power Party and the Democratic Party.
After Seoul Central District Court on Wednesday sentenced a senior prosecutor close to the governing People Power Party (PPP) to one year in jail for asking an opposition lawmaker in 2020 to file a complaint with the prosecution to punish politicians hostile to the prosecution, the same court on the same day delivered a two-year sentence to Rep. Youn Kwan-suk, a former Democratic Party (DP) lawmaker, for his role in handing out cash envelopes to his colleagues during the party’s election of a new leader in 2021. [PARK YONG-SEOK]
