A U.S. Air Force F-16 fighter jet crashed near an island in Gunsan County, North Jeolla on Wednesday.

The pilot reportedly escaped before the jet crashed into the sea at around 8:40 a.m.

More details of the incident are yet to be released by U.S. Forces Korea.

The latest incident came just a month after the crash of another U.S. F-16 fighter jet, also in Gunsan, during a training exercise.
