Hanteo Global, the operator of music sales tracker Hanteo Chart, will partner with Chinese music company Tencent Music Entertainment (TME) to collect and provide K-pop data within the Chinese region.

The two companies signed a business agreement in which the Chinese company promised to provide the online and offline sales data of K-pop music in the local market to Hanteo Global, the Korean company said Tuesday.

The actual K-pop physical and digital data consumed from platforms under TME will be relayed to Hanteo Chart and applied to the Hanteo Chart’s Total ranking charts and its Chinese world chart, according to Hanteo Global.

TME holds four of the most renowned music platforms in China — QQ Music, KuGou Music, Kowo Music and WeSing — accumulating a large amount of user data, according to Hanteo Global.

Hanteo Global hopes that the collaboration will open a new cultural exchange opportunity between Korea and China, the company added.

“K-pop is mainly consumed in China through TME-owned music platforms,” Kwak Young-ho, the CEO of Hanteo Global, said in a press release.

“We are also discussing various new businesses such as concerts, festivals and events, connecting K-pop and C-pop based on the global network that Hanteo Global has established."
