Yonsei University has appointed Yoon Dong-sup as its 20th president.

The university will hold an inauguration ceremony on Thursday at the 100th Anniversary Memorial Hall at its Sinchon campus in Mapo District, western Seoul.

Yoon's four-year term will officially begin on Thursday and end on Jan. 31, 2028.

During the ceremony, Yoon will propose plans to enhance Yonsei University's global competitiveness in interdisciplinary research, create value exchange models between the university and local community and innovate university governance.

President Yoon Dong-sup earned Bachelor's and Master's degrees in medicine at Yonsei University and a Ph.D., also in medicine, at Korea University. He has been a professor at the Yonsei University College of Medicine since 1999 and has served as the university's senior vice president for medical affairs, as well as the head of its medical center, since August 2020.

Outside of campus, Yoon also heads the Korean Hospital Association and Korean Council on Medical Education.
