LX Pantos, the logistics arm of LX Holdings, said Tuesday that it has signed a partnership with Korea East-West Power Corp., an affiliate of the state-run Korea Electric Power Corp., to ramp up production of eco-friendly solar power as part of its efforts to cut emissions.
Under the agreement, LX Pantos will provide some 18,000 square meters of roof space at its logistics center in Ansan, Gyeonggi Province, to build the Kepco affiliate’s 2.5-megawatt solar power station.
The energy firm will be responsible for operating the facility and managing electricity transactions.
One-third of the produced electricity will be used at the LX Pantos logistics center, while the rest will be supplied for electricity trading, the company said.
LX Pantos said it expects to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 10,000 tons over the next 20 years by replacing part of the logistics center's electricity usage with solar power.
"This cooperation is an effective ESG collaboration model that combines the business capabilities of both companies and also is an example of green logistics practices that LX Pantos pursues," said LX Pantos CEO Lee Yong-ho. "We are considering installing more solar power facilities at our logistics centers at home and abroad.”
Under the vision of “Value Deliverer for People and the Planet,” LX Pantos has joined diverse environmental campaigns. It has joined Korean Air to promote sustainable aviation fuels or SAF. In 2021, it acquired the ISO14001 environmental management system certificate.
