The 15-year-old who attacked People Power Party lawmaker Bae Hyun-jin on Thursday reportedly claimed that the assault was impulsive and not premeditated.

According to the police on Friday, the unidentified middle schooler told investigators that he was waiting in front of a hair salon known for having many celebrity customers, hoping to get autographs.

The assailant allegedly left his home two hours prior to the attack.

He reportedly said that he usually carries a rock in his pocket.

The 15-year-old attends a middle school in Daechi-dong, in Gangnam District, southern Seoul.

On Thursday, the middle schooler struck the back of the lawmaker’s head with a rock and continued to assault her even after she fell to the ground.

The attack happened on the first floor of a building in Sinsa-dong, Gangnam District, where the 41-year-old lawmaker had a hair appointment.

She was rushed to Soon Chun Hyang University Hospital Seoul.

The Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education announced on Friday that it will take punitive measures against the student, which may include suspending the student for 10 days.
