Trot singer Lim Young-woong has returned as the winner of the Favorite Weekly Chart.
Favorite is a K-pop fan voting service developed by music streaming service Bugs and the JoongAng Ilbo, an affiliate of the Korea JoongAng Daily.
The weekly chart’s rankings are calculated by a combination of fan votes and an artist’s number of streams on Bugs.
Lim's end-of-January victory marks his second win this year. Lim scored 45.1 percent, accounting for a total of 42,244 votes and 4.4 percent of Bugs streaming data.
A celebratory video of Lim will play at the Parnas Media Tower from Saturday to next Friday. The Parnas Media Tower is located near COEX Mall in Gangnam District, southern Seoul.
BTS’s Jungkook ranked in second place with a score of 40.7 percent, with 36,914 votes and 6.1 percent of streams, followed by Riize, SM Entertainment’s rookie boy band, who scored 9.3 percent with 340 votes and 9 percent of streaming.
Boy band B1A4 topped Favorite’s monthly comeback chart, celebrating K-pop artists’ album releases, for January with 38.8 percent, accounting for 8,615 votes and 0.5 percent of Bugs Streaming data. B1A4 in January dropped its eighth EP, “Connect,” the band’s first album in more than 2 years.
RIIZE ranked No. 2 on the chart with 34.5 percent, followed by girl group (G)I-DLE in third, with 8 percent.
RIIZE dropped the digital single “Love 119” on Jan. 5, and (G)I-DLE is set to release its second full-length album, “2,” on Monday.
