Moroccan coffee brand Bacha Coffee, renowned for being a favorite among historical figures such as Winston Churchill and Charlie Chaplin, is set to make its debut in South Korea in July.

Lotte Department Store announced Thursday that it will open a Bacha Coffee store in Cheongdam-dong, Gangnam District in southern Seoul, in July 2024.

The retailer secured the exclusive franchise and distribution rights for Bacha Coffee through negotiations with Singapore’s V3 Gourmet Group, the parent company of Bacha Coffee, which began in August of last year.

In order to convince V3 Gourmet Group, Lotte Department Store CEO Jung Jun-ho made a personal visit to Singapore.

Lotte Department Store explained that the opening of the first store in Cheongdam-dong is part of its strategy to elevate Bacha Coffee from being just a department store offering to a luxury destination.

Bacha Coffee, with its origins in Marrakech, Morocco, currently runs a total of 18 stores worldwide. The brand is celebrated for its diverse range of coffees made from 100 percent Arabica beans sourced from 35 countries across the globe.
