Special Inspector General for Afghanistan Reconstruction (SIGAR) releases report on economy

The money is deposited in designated UN accounts in private banks in Kabul and is allocated to education, health, and development projects, with oversight by the Taliban government. Economic experts view the assistance positively, citing potential benefits for monetary stability and economic growth. However, a recent United Nations Development Program (UNDP) report highlights the ongoing challenges faced by the majority of Afghans, with 69 percent lacking access to sufficient resources for basic needs and the economy having declined by 27 percent since 2020.
