NewJeans matches Blackpink chart record with 'Get Up' at 26 weeks

Girl group NewJeans’ second EP “Get Up” has been on the Billboard 200 album chart for 26 consecutive weeks, matching Blackpink's record for the longest-charting album by a K-pop girl group.

NewJeans released “Get Up" on July 21 last year, and it currently sits at No. 197 on the chart as of the week of Jan. 27, achieving the record a year and a half after the group's debut. It topped the Billboard chart on Aug. 5 last year.

Blackpink earlier reached 26 consecutive weeks with “The Album,” released on Oct. 2, 2020.

"Get Up" is also the longest album to chart in the Billboard 200 by a fourth-generation K-pop girl group, according to NewJeans' agency ADOR.

“Super Shy” (2023), the lead track of the album, sat at No. 79 on the Billboard Global Excl. US, followed by the album’s other lead track “ETA” (2023) sitting at No. 154.

The group’s song “Ditto” (2022) also charted in the Billboard Global Excl. US at No. 94 and Global 200 at No. 184.

“OMG” (2023) sat at No. 93 on the Billboard Global Excl. US and at No. 179 on the Global 200 chart.

NewJeans debuted in July 2022 under agency ADOR, a music label under HYBE, and has been one of the biggest names in K-pop since then. The group is responsible for major hits like “Attention” (2022), “Ditto” (2022) and “Hype Boy” (2022) among others.

The group has been nominated for this year's iHeartRadio Music Awards in two categories, Kpop Song of the Year and Best New Artist (K-pop). The ceremony will take place on April 1.
