South Korean mobile carrier SK telecom Co. announced on Tuesday that it signed a business agreement with Korea Electrical Safety Corp. (KESCO) to improve electrical safety in telecommunications infrastructure.

The two companies will exchange information and technologies to ensure the safe operation of telecommunications electrical equipment and prevent electrical fires across 12 SK ICT affiliates. They will also cooperate on improving electrical safety systems.

The duo will also jointly develop artificial intelligence (AI)-based online diagnostic technology for lithium batteries, as well as precision diagnostics and fire prevention solutions for lithium batteries located at SK telecom’s 500-plus telecommunications stations nationwide.

“With this business agreement, we have established a stable operational foundation for power facilities to provide the best telecommunications services,” Kang Jong-ryeol, head of ICT Infrastructure & CSPO at SK telecom, said.
