The name of IU’s upcoming single “Love wins” will change to “Love wins all” due to backlash that the original title received, the singer-songwriter’s agency, EDAM Entertainment, said Friday.

“We would like to inform you that the title of IU’s prerelease song ‘Love wins,’ to be released on Jan. 24 at 6 p.m., is changed to ‘Love wins all’ as of today,” EDAM Entertainment said in a news release, written in both Korean and English, on Friday afternoon.

Controversy over the title began brewing shortly after the track's teaser poster, showing IU and BTS's V sitting together at a table, was released on Tuesday. Some online users posted that it was inappropriate for IU to use the name “Love wins,” a slogan with ties to the LGBTQ community that was widely used to commemorate the United States Supreme Court's decision to legalize same-sex marriage in 2015.

“We decided to change the title to respect and support everyone who loves in their various ways and we accept the opinions of those who express concerns that precious messages might be blurred due to the title,” the agency’s statement reads.

“We deeply hope that the original message of the song is delivered without leaving any scars on anyone, as every love wins all in the world with no hatred.”

IU will embark on the “H.E.R” world tour in March, which will stop in 17 cities around the world including Seoul, Singapore, London and Los Angeles.
