Air Jordans, Beats headphones available to a lucky few who preorder the Galaxy S24

Korea's three major mobile carriers are offering hefty subsidies and promotional giveaways to those who preorder the Samsung Galaxy S24.

From luxury handbags to football star Lee Kang-in's autographed uniforms, promotions are heating up for Samsung Electronics' latest Galaxy S24 smartphones.

Galaxy S24 preorders opened Friday in Korea with an estimated maximum subsidy of 240,000 won.

Three mobile carriers — SK Telecom (SKT), KT and LG U+ — rolled out subsidy rates ranging from 50,000 won to 240,000 won, depending on subscription plan.

KT offers the highest subsidy rate of 240,000 won. The carrier is also offering a 1TB Galaxy S24 Ultra model at the price of a 512GB model for customers who place preorders.

Ten lucky customers will also win a uniform autographed by Paris Saint-Germain’s Lee Kang-in.

SKT offers a maximum subsidy of 170,000 won and is running a giveaway event for travel vouchers worth 3 million won as well as gift cards for major department stores in Korea.

Those who preorder at offline SKT shops have a chance of winning various products including Beats x Stussy Studio Pro headphones, Nike Air Jordan 1 Retro High Travis Scott sneakers and Maison Margiela x Gentle Monster sunglasses.

LG U+ is offering subsidies of up to 230,000 won and a free six-month subscription to streaming platform Tving. Its giveaway event includes luxury brand Celine's medium-sized Ava Triomphe bag, Chanel's Coco Crush ring and a Signiel hotel and spa voucher among other prizes totaling approximately 100 million won.

Preorder for Galaxy S24 will continue until Jan. 25. The estimated subsidy rate will be confirmed on 26th. The official launch is scheduled for the 31st.

Galaxy S24 is Samsung Electronics' first smartphone equipped with major on-device AI features. The starting price for base and Plus model remained the same as their predecessors from the S23 line, falling at 1.15 million won and 1.35 million won. The starting price for Galaxy S24 Ultra is 1.69 million won, a 100,000 won increase from the S23 Ultra.
