Korean American actor Steven Yeun won an Emmy Award for Best Actor for his role in the Netflix original series “Beef” Tuesday.
During the 75th Primetime Emmy Awards held at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles on Tuesday, Yeun was given the Emmy for Lead Actor in a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie.
Yeun beat five other actors: Taron Egerton for “Black Bird,” Kumail Nanjiani for “Welcome to Chippendales,” Evan Peters for “Dahmer – Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story,” Daniel Radcliffe for “Weird: The Al Yankovic Story” and Michael Shannon for “George & Tammy.”
Yeon had previously won Best Actor at the Golden Globes earlier this month and a Critics Choice Award for Best Actor on Sunday.
Created and directed by Korean American Lee Sung-jin, the 10-episode series “Beef” features a notably Asian American ensemble cast, with Ali Wong playing the second lead character and actors Joseph Lee, Young Mazino, David Choe and Patti Yasutake in supporting roles.
Lee also won Best Director and Wong Best Actress at this year’s Emmys. “Beef” itself also won Best Limited or Anthology Series. The show was nominated in 13 different categories for this year’s Emmys.
