GS25, a South Korean convenience store chain operated by GS Retail Co., plans to expand its low-sugar product lineup in 2024 as sales continue to grow, increasing 1.5 times over the past four years, the convenience store chain said on Monday.

GS25 started selling Halo Top, a low-sugar premium ice cream, in 2019 and subsequently introduced brands including SKINNYPIG, Greek day, FROMEAT, and Labnosh, which offer products with reduced sugar and calories.

The convenience store currently sells more than 20 types of low sugar, low calorie, and zero sugar products, ranging from ice cream to protein snacks, snacks, chocolate, and jelly.

“Interest in dessert nutrition has increased significantly since the pandemic due to the spread of a healthy pleasure trend in the country,” a GS25 official said. “Many dessert brands are using GS25 as an important test bed to gauge consumption trends.”

GS25 launched ‘Low-Sugar Vanilla Cookie Chou’ from SKINNYPIG, a low-sugar ice cream brand, on January 10th, 2024, and has plans to further expand its low-sugar dessert offerings within the year, including adding 10 more ice cream products under its private-label brand (PB).
