SK Group showcased its artificial intelligence and carbon-neutrality visions at its "theme-park" concept exhibition at CES 2024, attracting over 60,000 visitors in the four-day tech show.
Wrapping up the exhibition on Friday, SK Group said it received more than double the number of visitors at its pavilion set up at Las Vegas Convention Center compared to last year.
SK's seven affiliates, including SK Inc., SK Innovation, SK hynix, SK Telecom, and SK E&S, participated in setting up the showroom, dubbed "SK Wonderland," created like an amusement park. The exhibition booth is the largest at the tech show, and is divided into five sections.
There, the group sought to present the net-zero world it envisions via carbon reduction technologies and AI-powered products with attractions and activities that visitors can try.
SK Group Chairman Chey Tae-won, who visited the showroom on the opening day of CES 2024 on Tuesday, highlighted how AI could be used to support the company's net-zero goal.
"It has been about a year since ChatGPT was released. Before that, we did not really think how AI will change the world, but after the breakthrough (event) happened, everyone's trying to get on the wave," Chey said.
A renewable energy-powered train named, “Train Adventure," offered insights into SK’s hydrogen ecosystem, and visitors experienced the carbon-free future urban air mobility in the “Magic Carpet” zone.
A spherical LED screen with a diameter of 6 meters, reminiscent of the Sphere, a massive landmark in Las Vegas, took the center of the SK showroom to become the popular photo spot for visitors.
"We employed a new way to set up our exhibition, with the aim to make it easier for everyone to understand the somewhat complex technologies behind carbon reduction and AI,” an SK official said. "We will continue to make efforts so that more stakeholders can understand and participate in SK's journey toward net-zero."
In the CES 2022, SK Group has announced its goal of reducing carbon emissions by 200 million tons, which is about 1 percent of the world's carbon reduction goal, by 2030.
During the same event last year, SK presented the technologies it has and is developing to pursue its emission reduction goal. This year's exhibition has been created offer hands-on experiences of the coming gnet-zero world, inspiring happiness with the activities, the company said.
