EXO member D.O.’s fan club celebrated the singer's birthday by donating 12 million won ($9,135) to help children diagnosed with cancer on Friday.
The fan club, known as D.O. Kyungsoodaum, sent the money to the Korea Pediatric Cancer Foundation to support children with cancer and other diseases that are hard to cure.
The foundation’s inpatient support program helps people under 25 who were diagnosed with pediatric cancer or other rare and incurable diseases before the age of 19.
“We support and look forward to Doh Kyung-soo’s future activities in various fields, including as a singer and actor,” Hong Seung-yun, the foundation's administrative director, said in a news release.
The fan club has been constantly donating to spread D.O.’s positive energy for the past five years, accumulating a total of 103.6 million amount donations, according to the foundation.
D.O. debuted as a member of boy band EXO in 2012 under SM Entertainment. EXO is known for hit songs such as “Growl” (2013), “Overdose” (2014), “Love Me Right” (2015) and “Love Shot” (2018).
The singer is also active as an actor, having appeared in hit SBS drama “It's Okay It's Love” (2014) and starred in the films “My Annoying Brother” (2016), “Swing Kids” (2018) and “The Moon” (2023).
He signed with Company Soosoo for his individual activities including singing and acting last year.
