The Seoul Philharmonic Orchestra is inviting 100 Seoul residents to the much-awaited inaugural concerts of Jaap Van Zweden on Jan. 25 and 26, which will also mark the orchestra's first collaboration with piano sensation Lim Yun-chan.

Fifty Seoul residents selected through a draw will each be given two tickets to the concert.

Korean and foreign nationals with a valid resident registration number aged 14 and above can participate in the draw. Winners will be selected using a lottery system, with two individuals chosen from each of Seoul's 25 districts, totaling 50 Seoul residents. Winners must submit proof of their address within two days of being selected. Concert tickets must be collected in person by the winners. The accompanying person doesn't have to be a Seoul resident.

The invitation event can be participated in through a link (in Korean) provided by the SPO's online platform and social media without a need for separate membership registration. The event will run for one week, from 9 a.m. on Friday to 6 p.m. on Jan. 18. The list of winners will be made available at noon on Jan. 22 on the orchestra's online homepage.

Tickets for the concerts, which will take place at Seoul Arts Center on Jan. 25 and at Lotte Concert Hall on Jan. 26, were sold out within one minute of ticket sales opening at 2 p.m. on Tuesday.

For both concerts, Lim, the winner of the 2022 Van Cliburn International Piano Competition, will join the orchestra for Beethoven's Piano Concerto No. 5 "Emperor." The orchestra will perform Mahler's Symphony No. 1 "Titan" for the second part of the concert.

SPO’s new artistic director, Jaap van Zweden is set to lead the Seoul-based orchestra for the next five years.
