The production company behind the play "Wife" said it would reinforce its no-recording rule after an allegation that a male audience member specifically filmed Girls' Generation member Sooyoung, who appears in the production, taking off her clothes.

Sooyoung, who plays Daisy, was changing her clothes on stage when the incident happened, according to a post on online forum dcinsde.

Written by Samuel Adamson, "Wife" is a play that spans four time periods from 1959 to 2046 and examines shifting attitudes toward women and LGTBQ identity.

A man in the audience, who appeared to be a fan of Sooyoung, allegedly took out his camera and started taking multiple photos during the scene.

“He was only targeting that specific actor,” the dcinside post said. “No one stopped him while he was taking dozens to a hundred of photos.”

Other reviews from the audience surfaced, saying that they were also disturbed due to illegal filming.

“We were unable to notice someone illegally recording the play due to the fact that he was filming in a blind spot,” an official from the organizer said. “We have decided to reinforce overall individuals, starting from Monday’s performance.”

“Gleam Company, the production company, will also notify the audience that recording is prohibited during the play and will publish a notification for the foreign audience as well,” the official said.

“The production company also plans to take stronger actions against illegal recording or uploading the footage for secondary processing,” the official added. “We will continue monitoring on such matters.”

The play “Wife” is running from Dec. 26 until Feb. 8 at the LG Art Center Seoul in Gangseo District, western Seoul, and stars well-known celebrities, including Girls’ Generation’s Choi Soo-young and actor Song Jae-rim.
