The northwestern part of Seoul experienced a blackout at dawn on Sunday, leaving hundreds of households in the dark.
According to the Korea Electric Power Corporation (Kepco), the power outage lasted five hours and 40 minutes in Eungam-dong in Eunpyeong District, northern Seoul, and Hongeun-dong in Seodaemun District, western Seoul.
The electrical failure started at 3:19 a.m. and was fully restored by 8:58 a.m.
Kepco said the electricity supply had been cut off at 767 power supply units. The authority estimates that more than 800 households were affected by the outage.
Affected houses were unable to use any electric heating units overnight due to the power failure, as the neighborhood stood well below subzero temperatures as of 6 a.m.
A Kepco official said they have not yet identified the cause of the blackout.
