US forces shoot down two anti-ship missiles and kill Houthi attackers in Red sea

The US forces have shot down two anti-ship ballistic missiles and sank three boats of Houthi attackers in the Red Sea as the Houthis were attacking a container ship, the US Naval Central Command (CENTCOM) announced. Yemen's Houthis have issued a warning to the US, cautioning against any potential military escalation on Yemen amid their commitment to continue targeting Israel-related commercial ships in the Red Sea and the Bab al-Mandab Strait, according to a statement by the Houthi military spokesperson, Yahya Sarea. The US Department of Defense announced on 18 December a multinational operation to safeguard trade and to protect ships in the Red Sea amid the recent escalation in Houthi attacks originating from Yemen. Houthis vowed to attack Israeli-bound ships and prevent them from navigating in the Red Sea and the Bab al-Mandab Strait in retaliation for Israel's airstrikes on the Gaza Strip, according to Sarea.
