Daewoo Engineering & Construction said Friday it has officially opened its digital theme park, Ice Jungle, on Phu Quoc, a tropical island in Vietnam known for water sports and recreation.
The 13,000-square-meter theme park is located at Meyhomes Capital Phu Quoc, a residential complex constructed in partnership with Daewoo E&C, near Truong Beach.
While some 700 visitors joined the opening ceremony held on Dec. 16, Ice Jungle officially opened to the public on Christmas Day.
The park is themed on "winter," "ice" and "snow," targeting locals who do not regularly experience snow or freezing winters due to the climate in Vietnam.
“Ice Jungle will bring a refreshing experience to locals in Southeast Asia, where snow is rare,” said a Daewoo E&C official. “By diversifying our business portfolio in Vietnam, our main overseas market, we will continue to demonstrate the potential of the Korean construction industry.”
During the evenings, the Ice Jungle turns blue and purple with digital illumination. In order to reduce environmental impacts in the immediate area, the theme park mainly uses light shows, sound effects, hologram screens and interactive sensors to deliver a winter experience, the firm said.
Following an outdoor trail, visitors arrive at the main building, where a cartoon polar bear, the mascot of the theme park, guides them on a winter journey. While making falling snow with fog machines and snow makers, the Ice Jungle displays lively new media art to create a winter atmosphere.
Targeting both adults and kids, Daewoo E&C is expecting the Ice Jungle to grow as a family-friendly theme park on Phu Quoc Island, which is a famous destination for family vacations, the company said.
