South Korea’s top home appliance manufacturers Samsung Electronics Co. and LG Electronics Inc. are rushing to roll out innovative products combined with artificial intelligence (AI) features at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2024 taking place in January in Las Vegas.

Samsung Electronics is expected to unveil AI-powered kitchenware. The company said that its Family Hub has turned into a smart fridge with AI features, including an internal camera that can identify up to 33 food items and suggest a list of what is in stock.

The Samsung Food app, an application users can directly access on the fridge, suggests recipes based on the stock list. Users can enter expiration dates on the fridge touchscreen, which will send notifications before the items expire.

LG Electronics will reveal its smart home AI agent comprising robotic and autonomous capabilities. With a two-legged wheel design, the AI agent can roam freely to identify potential issues in home surroundings and use its sensors to recognize sounds, voices, and images there.

The smart home appliance offers connectivity and control of household Internet of Things (IoT) devices.

The robot can even greet users when they get back home, recognize their emotions through facial recognition, and select music choices to their moods, according to the company.
