Kumho Petrochemical is striving to become a more socially responsible corporation, with going above and beyond just a simple one-time activity.

Since 2008, as part of its Window Support Project, the company each year selects a facility for people with disabilities, and replaces the building’s worn-out windows with its own brand, Hugreen.

The company has also been producing and sponsoring customized wheelchairs for severely disabled individuals and supplying walking sticks to the visually impaired.

On top of its existing contributions, Kumho is expanding its range of volunteer activities.

In September, employees from the company’s headquarters participated in a clean-up activity at the Cheonggyecheon Ecological School in Seongdong District, eastern Seoul, while they removed invasive plants that disturb the stream’s ecosystem.

Among its other branches outside Seoul, the Yeosu plant in particular has been helping support the living expenses of elderly people who live alone and helping pay for medical treatments, including providing dentures for 111 individuals.

Kumho’s affiliate companies are also actively engaging in various programs to make society a better and warmer place.

Kumho P&B Chemicals has been participating in the annual winter event that is kimjang (kimchi-making), sharing the kimchi it has made each year since 2016, to support households with the hearing-impaired. In a company campaign called the Step Donation Challenge, funds corresponding to the number of steps employees walked, collectively, was sent to nongovernmental organizations to support children.

Kumho Resort also staged its Cultural Heritage Guardian activity. In September, following an agreement with the Cultural Heritage Administration, environmental cleaning activities were held, such as raking fallen leaves and picking up trash in the vicinity of Changdeok Palace. It plans to implement the guardian activity twice a year at all of its branches nationwide from next year onwards.
