Netflix original series “Gyeongseong Creature” climbed to No. 3 on the streaming service’s rankings for non-English language shows globally, according to Netflix Wednesday.
“Gyeongseong Creature” stars actors Han So-hee and Park Seo-jun and depicts a group of people who encounter a mysterious monster during the Japanese colonial occupation of Korea in 1945. Upon landing at No. 3 globally, the show has topped domestic rankings and has also made it to the top 10 lists in 20 countries, including Singapore, Thailand, Taiwan and India.
Part 1 of “Gyeongseong Creature” was released on Friday, consisting of seven episodes out of a total 10. Part 2 will be released on Jan. 5.
Meanwhile, Han has been facing backlash from Japanese fans after posting a photo of independence activist Ahn Jung-geun (1879–1910) on social media over the weekend, in relation to the content of “Gyeongseong Creature.”
