Production company Barunson E&A will invest in Indonesian films and start expanding to global production and distribution projects, the company announced Wednesday.
It will invest in two Indonesian films from major production companies, Visinema Pictures' "13 Bom di Jakarta" and BASE Entertainment's "Respati."
Visinema Pictures is the production company founded by Angga Sasongko, one of Indonesia's leading directors, and the company behind "Letters from Prague" (2016), Indonesia's first official entry to the Academy Awards.
BASE Entertainment produced hit films such as the horror master Joko Anwar's "Impetigore" (2019) and the hit Netflix original series "Cigarette Girl."
"13 Bom di Jakarta," a collaboration between Barunson E&A and Visinema Pictures, is Sasongko's latest film and a blockbuster action work of the kind not seen before in Indonesia. The highly anticipated film has been invited to the 53rd Rotterdam International Film Festival and will be released in Indonesia on Dec. 28.
"Respati" (working title) is a new film from director Sidharta Tata, who ranked second at the Indonesian box office this year with his debut film. "Respati" recently completed filming and is currently in post-production, set to be released sometime next year.
