Singer and actor Kim Se-jeong donated 50 million won ($38,600) to the Autism Society of Korea as she stars in the play “Temple,” her agency Jellyfish Entertainment said.

Kim is currently playing the role of Temple Grandin, a character with autism who becomes a world-renown animal behaviorist.

Kim wanted to support and send a positive message to people with autism and their families after playing Grandin, according to her agency.

“Kim’s warm heart will be a great help to autistic people and their families, and we will do our best to ensure that the donation is used wisely according to her wishes,” a spokesperson from the Autism Society of Korea said in a press release.

Kim debuted in 2016 as a member of project girl group I.O.I after coming in second place on cable network Mnet's girl group audition program "Produce 101" (2016–17). She joined her second girl group Gugudan under Jellyfish Entertainment, which disbanded in December 2020. She also started her acting career in KBS’s TV series “School 2017” (2017) and later starred in dramas such as the first and second seasons of “The Uncanny Counter” (2020-23) and SBS's "A Business Proposal" (2022).

“Temple” will run until Feb. 18 at Seokyeong University Performing Arts Center SKON1 at Daehangno in Jongno District, central Seoul.
