Jennie of Blackpink announced a new beginning under a new agency that she has established for her solo career.
“This year was filled with many accomplishments, and I’m so thankful for all the love I’ve received. I’m also excited about what’s to come, as I start my solo journey in 2024 with a company that I have established called OA. Please show lots of love for my new start with OA and of course, Blackpink,” Jennie wrote in a post uploaded on X, formerly Twitter, on Sunday.
OA, which stands for Odd Atelier, is the agency that Jennie established with her mother last month. The agency currently houses only Jennie.
“OA is a space that aims to create new things that attract attention in a different way from what is usual or expected,” said the agency.
Jennie debuted in 2016 as K-pop sensation Blackpink under YG Entertainment, with singles “Whistle” and “Boombayah.”
The four-member group earlier this month renewed an exclusive contract with YG for group activities. Following the news, the company shares jumped 25 percent.
Whether three other members, Lisa, Rose and Jisoo, will renew their contracts with YG individually or take a different path as well remains unknown.
