Boy band Seventeen proved its prowess in Japan this year with its albums and events.

Seventeen sat at No. 3 on Oricon’s year-end chart as the highest-ranked K-pop artist, its agency Pledis Entertainment said Thursday.

The Japanese company wrapped up the year by releasing its year-end report “Oricon Annual Ranking 2023” on Wednesday. The report compiles data from Dec. 26 last year until Dec. 18.

Seventeen’s 10th EP “FML” sat at No. 3 on Oricon’s Annual Album chart, followed by its Japanese album “Always Yours” at No. 5 and its 11th EP “Seventeenth Heaven” at No. 7.

The band is the only artist to have three albums in the Top 10 of this year’s chart, according to the agency.

Seventeen sat at No. 4 on the artist total sales chart, having made total sales of 8.1 billion yen ($56.7 million) and making the band the best-selling K-pop act on the chart.

The band also recently ended its "The City" project in Japan, which saw 78,000 fans and distributed 160,000 copies of its photo cards, according to the agency.

The Japan leg of the project was held in five cities, including Tokyo, Osaka and Nagoya.

The number of participants increased nearly threefold from last year, which had 28,000 participants, the agency said.

The most popular event during the project was the band’s photo exhibition, which was held in four places — the Tokyo and Saitama area, Nagoya, Osaka and Fukuoka, garnering some 31,000 people, the agency added.

The Japan “The City” project ended on Monday, following the band's last performance of the Japanese leg of its world tour "Follow" on Sunday. During the project, a Ferris wheel in Nagoya’s Sunshine Sakae shopping mall and a special subway train were wrapped with the members’ images. The band also did a joint project with Japanese Airline Star Flyer, covering an airplane with images of the band.

“The City” is an event that offers various forms of entertainment for fans to enjoy across the entire city, in which the band is scheduled to perform for its tour, into a “concert play park.”

The band is also set to perform on Japan's broadcasting channel NHK's annual year-end TV show "Kohaku Uta Gassen" on New Year's Eve.
