Dong Suh Foods’ concert stirs up enthusiasm

Dong Suh Foods, renowned for its flagship Maxim and Kanu coffee sticks, is making a positive impact on society through various cultural sharing activities.

Dong Suh Foods, renowned for its flagship Maxim and Kanu coffee sticks, is making a positive impact on society through various cultural sharing activities.

The Dong Suh Coffee Classic concert, initiated in 2008 to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the company’s foundation, recently welcomed 1,200 audience members at its 13th annual concert, held at Art Center Incheon.

Beginning with its inaugural concert in Seoul, the series has consistently presented free, high-quality classical performances that resonate with audiences, spreading the cultural experience like the aroma of coffee throughout the country, including in Busan, Daejeon, Incheon, Jeonju, and more.

This year’s concert was a success, featuring renowned musicians such as a guitarist Park Kyu-hee, pianist Shin Chang-yong, soprano Park Hye-sang, bass-baritone vocalist Gil Byeong-min and the Incheon Philharmonic Orchestra under conductor Christopher Lee.

“Maxim The Aroma of Love” is the food company’s other musical support activity which started in 2008. Under the cultural sponsorship program, Dong Suh Foods has donated 450 million won ($345,000) to provide youth orchestras with new instruments, facilities and uniforms.

The Sangjeong Angel String Orchestra, a student orchestra from Sangjeong Elementary School in Incheon has been selected as this year’s partner and received new violins, cellos and uniforms. The students were also invited to the Dong Suh Coffee Classic concert, where they had the opportunity to enjoy music performances by professional musicians.

Under the project name Dong Suh Dream Libraries, the old library remodeling and book donation program has also been underway since 2017.

One elementary school in the local area is selected to receive benefits and this year the Attached Elementary School of Gwangju National University of Education was bestowed with 3,000 books and had its old library remodeled with additional reading space.

“Dong Suh will keep supporting various cultural sharing activities as well as social contribution projects. By doing so, we aim to become a responsible corporation that actively gives back to society,” said an official from Dong Suh Foods.
