South Korea’s LG Electronics Inc. will showcase cutting-edge Cybersecurity Management Systems (CSMS) and transparent antennas for vehicles at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2024 in the United States.

LG Electronics announced Monday that it joined hands with France’s Saint-Gobain Sekurit to present the next-generation transparent antennas for vehicles at CES 2024.

These transparent antennas utilize a film-type technology applicable to glass. LG Electronics will unveil two variants: the modular attachment (On-glass) and embedded (In-glass) antennas.

Amid the transformation of the mobility industry with the emergence of Software Defined Vehicles (SDV), transparent antennas have gained traction due to their ability to be placed on multiple surfaces, unlike conventional antennas. This innovation allows for support of various communications such as 5G, satellite communication, GPS, and can handle substantial data transmission.

A notable feature is the absence of protrusions, enabling a seamless integration into the curvature of vehicles, enhancing their sleek design.

“Through the development process, we’ve won over 80 patents in designing antenna patterns to be transparent and utilizing transparent electrode materials,” the company said. “We aim to expand our presence in the vehicle communication component sector.”

According to market research firm Strategy Analytics, LG Electronics secured the top position in the telematics market with a share of 23.8 percent in the third quarter of this year.
