(MHNSPORTS Heewon Kim reporter) With Season 2 of JYP Entertainment's new boy group launching project, 'Nizi' comes to an end, the birth of a new boy group, NEXZ was announced.
In the final episode of Season 2 of 'Nizi Project', which aired on JYP's official YouTube channel and Japanese online video platform Hulu on the 15th, the final debut member and team name 'NEXZ' were announced.
The group name 'NEXZ', which is an abbreviation of 'Next Z(G)eneration', was created by Park Jin-young, JYP's representative producer and 'Nizi Project' judge, with the meaning of the members who will be responsible for the next generation coming together to present music and performance and open a new era. At the debut member announcement site, he revealed the reason for creating this group name, saying, "I hope that NEXZ will open the future as a new generation."
After regional preliminaries held in 11 cities including Nagoya, Fukuoka, Hiroshima, Sapporo, Okinawa, Tokyo, Sendai, and Kobe in Japan, New York, Los Angeles in the U.S., and Seoul in Korea, they passed all the hurdles including training camps in Tokyo and Seoul, and their final debut was decided. There are a total of 7 members, consisting of Tomoya, Haru, Yuki, Ken, Yu, Yuhi, and Seita (in order of final rank).
In the final episode of Season 2 of 'Nizi Project', where the new boy group NEXZ was born, the common song mission for the final stage was held with the new song 'Miracle', written and composed by JYP, Bang Chan, Changbin, and Han from 3RACHA, the production team of Stray Kids, a popular K-pop group active around the world, served as special judges and gave sincere reviews to the participants.
The participants selected to debut as 'NEXZ' concluded the long journey of 'Nizi Project' Season 2 and said, "We will continue to do our best toward our dream of becoming the world's best artist. As we have been given a wonderful opportunity, we will show that we can grow further to meet your expectations." He expressed his bold ambition.
'Nizi Project' is a joint audition program presented by JYP and Sony Music, Japan's largest record label, and created NiziU through Season 1 in 2020.
Meanwhile, 'NEXZ' will be appearing as gyest on the Japanese terrestrial broadcasting program 'Day Day' on Nippon TV on the 18th.
