Singer Bang Ye-dam has been named the ambassador of the Korean Red Cross Youth (RCY), his agency GF Entertainment said Monday.

RCY is a non-profit youth organization that focuses on promoting health care rights, education, social inclusion, and volunteerism, and it is made up of children and adults in their early 20s.

Bang will promote the organization and its activities with the RCY as its ambassador, according to the Korean Red Cross.

"It's an honor to be named the ambassador of the RCY," Bang said in a press release. "I heard that the RCY is a global organization composed of young people [who do volunteer work] in 192 countries worldwide."

"I will also take part in the practice of sharing and volunteering with the members of RCY," Bang added.

Bang first appeared on the second season of the SBS audition show "K-pop Star" (2011–17) and finished as runner-up. He signed with YG Entertainment after the show and debuted as a member of boy band Treasure on Aug. 7, 2020.

Bang left the band and YG Entertainment in 2022 and signed an exclusive contract with his current agency on Aug. 24. Bang recently dropped his first EP "Only One," on Nov. 23, kicking off his career as a solo artist.
